The Alamo & Valero Plaza

Adjacent to the historic Alamo and the newly opened Plaza de Valero, the Crockett Hotel offers a front-row experience of San Antonio’s rich history. As part of the Alamo Plan, Plaza de Valero serves as a welcoming gateway, blending history, community, and sustainability. This pedestrian-friendly plaza features seating, a green lawn, and a performance pavilion hosting community events.

  • Sustainability - A 167,000-gallon cistern irrigates native trees, enhancing shade and comfort.
  • Historical Significance - A dynamic space that honors San Antonio’s past while engaging visitors today.

Preserving. Recapturing. Developing

Alamo Restoration Project

The Alamo Plan is dedicated to preserving and enhancing this world-renowned historic site.

Key initiatives include:

  • Preserving the 300-year-old Church and Long Barrack
  • Recapturing the original mission and battlefield footprint
  • Developing a state-of-the-art Visitor Center and Museum, set to open in 2027

Recent milestones include the unveiling of the 18-Pounder Losoya House Exhibit, the Palisade Exhibit, and the Mission Gate and Lunette, helping visitors better understand the Alamo’s historical significance. Additionally, the Ralston Family Collections Center, opened in March 2023, houses the Alamo Collection, including artifacts from the Phil Collins Collection.
